Jennifer Lopez Filed For Divorce From Ben Affleck

The fairy-tale romance between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck has come to an end. After capturing everyone’s hearts in the early ’00s with their initial romance and making everyone believe in love again when the two reunited in 2021, the couple have ended their relationship once again.

Multiple sources have confirmed to People that Lopez has filed for divorce in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, listing April 26, 2024 as the date of separation. Lopez filed for divorce solo, without relying on a lawyer; as People writes, she is “technically self-represented.” August 20, today, marks the second anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Georgia. TMZ was the first to report the news, and according to TMZ sources, the couple do not have a prenuptial agreement.

The two married in 2022, with a ceremony in Las Vegas followed by a lavish, star-studded event in Savannah, Georgia, giving brides-to-be everywhere plenty of inspiration for their not-so-secret Pinterest boards. But, even the glamour, glitz, and growth shown in This Is Me…Now weren’t enough to save the duo’s second chance at love.

The announcement comes after speculation that Lopez and Affleck were having relationship issues in April and May of 2024. The two hadn’t been photographed together for more than 40 days, which led fans to believe that they were spending time apart for more than just work—at the time, Lopez was working on The Kiss of the Spider Woman and Affleck was filming The Accountant 2. While the two didn’t release any statements to address the rumors, many fans saw their lack of PDA and Affleck skipping out on the 2024 Met Gala, which Lopez co-chaired, as suspicious.

Lopez has been married four times, which she mentioned in her documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.

“I’ve decided to share my story that I’ve never shared with anyone in the world,” she said. “I’ve been married four times now…I’m sure people watching from the outside were like ‘What is this girl’s problem?’”

Lopez was married to singer Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014. The two share two children: Emme and Max. Before him, Lopez was married to dancer Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003. She was also briefly married to actor Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998.

Affleck was previously married to Jennifer Garner. The two share three children: Fin, Violet, and Samuel.
