Bella and Gigi Hadid to Donate $1 Million to Palestinian Relief

News

Supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid are banding together to donate a generous sum toward multiple relief organizations supporting Palestine.

The Hadids will be splitting up a $1 million donation between four different organizations supporting Palestinian people during Israel’s continued assault on Gaza since the October 7 Hamas attack. The money will go evenly toward HEAL Palestine, Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), World Central Kitchen (WCK), and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), according to multiple reports. All four organizations work toward providing food and medical aid to Palestinian people displaced or affected throughout the conflict.

Both Bella and Gigi Hadid have been vocal about their support of Palestine over the last several months, proudly showing support for their Palestinian heritage. Their father, Mohamed Anwar Hadid, is Palestinian.

Even before the Hamas attack on October 7, Bella Hadid had openly supported Palestine and often shared history on her personal social media page. In May, Bella reposted slides from AJ+ detailing the 1948 ethnic cleansing of Palestine called Nakba. Bella wrote that she is “a child of a Nakba survivor, grandchild of grandparents that lived through the Nakba and were never able to return home.” She continued on, saying that even in 2024, Palestinians are being “brutalized, terrorized, tortured and killed.”

“I am devastated at the loss of the Palestinian people and the lack of empathy coming from the government systems worldwide,” Bella wrote. “Do better for all involved or get out of office. Please do not be desensitized to the horrific visuals you are witnessing. It is real. It is life.”

Gigi Hadid has also shared her own support for Gaza on her Instagram page, and expressed her condolences following the October 7 Hamas attack, calling it an “unjustifiable tragedy.” She also added, “While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person.”

Bella Hadid support of Palestine didn’t waver even while attending the glamorous Cannes Film Festival in the South of France last month. At one of the many festival events, Bella wore a dress made out of the same pattern and material as a Palestinian keffiyeh from Michael and Hushi’s February 2001 runway show. Hadid shared her thoughts about wearing the special garment and the symbolism woven throughout it in an Instagram post.

“While I still have to go to work, even through this horror, to wear our culture makes me a proud Palestinian & I want the world to continue to see Palestine, wherever we go,” Hadid wrote. “A beautiful way to represent the history, labor of love, resilience and, most importantly, the art of historic Palestinian embroidery.”
