Huda Kattan is speaking up about a recent issue with a shade in her forthcoming Easy Blur foundation range. The Huda Beauty founder took to TikTok to share an explanation of what happened and how she and her team have worked to fix it prior to the product’s launch in early September. According to Kattan, there was a shade mixup. “This could have happened with any shade, but it’s really unfortunate that it happened with a richer shade,” she explained.
According to Kattan, when an influencer who got a sneak peek at the line tried the colors, she found one was too rich and the next shade was too red, leaving a gap in the range. Kattan noted that she and her team immediately got to work figuring out what had happened, and they discovered that the wrong shade code had been submitted; the shade known as Lava Cake in Kattan’s Faux Filter foundation range doesn’t match the one in the new Easy Blur line.
Kattan took ownership of the mistake, saying that she should have “quadruple-checked” to ensure the shades were submitted correctly. The team is taking back all of the current, wrong-code ‘Lava Cake’ shades and relabeling them with the correct shade match, ‘Ganache.’ Kattan also shared that the originally intended shade will be renamed ‘True Lava Cake’ and released to retailers ASAP.
“I’m so deeply sorry to anyone who might be affected by this and can’t find their shade,” Kattan wrote in her caption accompanying the video. If customers can’t find their ‘True Lava Cake’ shade, which she is hoping will be available at the time of launch, Kattan also provided an email to get in touch and said that the team will personally send one their way.
Fans were thrilled with Kattan’s honesty and transparency about the mistake. “Huge respect for the transparency! Can’t wait to see the fix.
