I Barely Use Concealer After This $13 Color Corrector Erased My Redness

News

As a shopping writer constantly trying out new products, it’s not uncommon for me to switch up my skincare routine every couple of weeks. For that reason, it takes a truly remarkable product to gain my loyalty, and there are only a handful of products that have held a place on my top shelf for years.

At the top of that list is the Hero Cosmetics Rescue Balm Recovery Cream. As someone who struggles with redness and breakouts, I find this color-correcting cream a miracle product that seemingly erases any of my dark spots caused by pimples and camouflages redness on my fair, sensitive skin.

Hero Cosmetics is best known for its Mighty Patch, the award-winning patch that extracts pimples overnight, but the Rescue Balm Color-Correcting Cream is part of the brand’s post-blemish care. The original Rescue Balm from Hero Cosmetics helps soothe skin post-breakout, and the color-corrector, made with panthenol and beta-glucan, has all of the same properties for treating irritated skin with a green tint that helps to camouflage redness

As I mentioned, I’ve been using this green cream to treat redness for years, but at first, I couldn’t comprehend how it blended into my skin with a concealer-like effect. The idea still feels slightly elusive to me, but I learned to understand it this way: red and green are opposite each other on the color wheel, so the green pigment cancels out redness. Makes sense, right?

Unlike concealer, which usually sits heavy on my dry skin, this lightweight green-tinted cream works almost like a magic eraser, and it feels like I’m not wearing anything. Another plus is that a pea-sized amount of this product goes a long way, so you truly are using minimal product.

Of course, I still use my foundation for special events, but when I can’t be bothered with my makeup melting off in the summertime, I cover up any dark spots or redness patches with this cream, and I’m good to go. I even have a second one that I keep in my purse for on-the-go touch-ups.

I’m not the only fan of this product, though. One Amazon shopper wrote that they have an “absolutely flawless, smooth, hydrated, no-makeup look” after using the color-corrector. Meanwhile, another person who wrote that this is their “new holy grail for red skin” added that it lasted them “all day in the 95-degree heat.” See, I told you it’s impressive!

While my product of choice is the Hero Cosmetics Rescue Balm Color-Correcting Cream, there are other green-tinted color correctors out there with a similar effect. Below, find options for $30 or less to treat red skin.
