Normani Teases New Single “1:59” Feat. Gunna Off New Album

News

Normani gave eager fans a taste of her new song on Saturday, announcing that this would be the first single off of her debut solo album, Dopamine. The track is entitled “1:59” featuring rapper Gunna and will be released on April 26.

Normani shared a video on TikTok Saturday, along with other social media posts, announcing the single. In the video, a portion of the song is playing as Normani lip-syncs the lyrics. The single has a vibey, R&B feel — giving fans a glimpse into her new album’s sound.

“soo basically my first single 1:59 will be coming out 4/26,” Normani wrote in the caption.

The video comes after Normani cheekily responded to a fan on X (formerly Twitter) who asked on March 14 what the update was about the album after she first announced it on February 21.

“Hi, Thank you for your patience,” Normani wrote. “This matter will be addressed tomorrow at 1:59pm EST. – Management.”

Dopamine will be Normani’s first full solo album since her former group Fifth Harmony disbanded in 2018. The musician has released multiple singles and has been featured on other songs since the group broke up, but hasn’t put out a full album. After releasing the hit song, “Motivation,” fans were ready for more music from Normani. The singer has not yet revealed the exact release date of Dopamine.

Following the release of her song, “Wild Side” in 2021, Normani revealed that her mom was battling cancer and pushed her to release the song.

“This past year, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer so for me, this work that I was able to put out into the world, like, this really saved me, to be completely honest,” Normani told Power 106 Los Angeles at the time. “Even just being on FaceTime with her as she’s going through her chemo and her radiation, and just wanting me to update her on how this video is going, and how the music is coming, like, it really got her through that. It got my family through the darkest time of our lives.”
