Coco Chanel once famously advised, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Enter Rihanna.
On April 6, the 36-year-old “Diamonds” singer shut down the “less is more” fallacy while out to dinner in Los Angeles, mixing a little bit of everything to create the maximalist version of your favorite casual look.
Rihanna’s version of jeans and a t-shirt consists of a baggy pair of denim with ripped knees and a puddled hem, which she paired with an oversized graphic t-shirt. Instead of “balancing” the look with a tailored or belted jacket, Rihanna instead chose to up the volume with a billowy satin coat and as many strands of pearls as she could comfortably carry around her neck—lengths varying from stacks of chokers to necklaces that hung past her waist.
Oh, you thought Rihanna was done? The artist added even more intrigue to the look by pinning her honey blonde bob into a curly updo and finished off the look with thick black sunglasses, a black satin Dior saddle bag, and a tiny pair of Gucci logo square-toed heels peaking out from under her jeans.
So yeah, it’s hard to imagine Rihanna took a single thing off after looking in the mirror before leaving her home—and maybe you shouldn’t either.
