Shearling-Lined Clogs Are a Top 2024 Shoe Trend I’m Buying for Fall

News

The clog may be one of the most polarizing yet persistent shoe styles on the planet. It’s backed by stars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Gisele Bündchen, and Reese Witherspoon, always makes its return during the fall. Regardless of your opinions, the clog trend is exploding this season with designers like Louis Vuitton, Chloé, and Isabel Marant offering up their version of the wooden soled footwear.

Personally, I understand why SJP has been fully supporting the clog movement for decades: The style is comfortable, pairs just as easily with skirts and dresses as it does with jeans and other trousers, and most styles offer just enough of a platform to make your legs look great. With the temperatures quickly dropping and leaf-changing season in full effect, I’m shopping the trend with a cozy, shearling-lined twist. If you really want to “eat and leave behind no crumbs,” (as my 8-year-old daughter would say), browse through my favorite lined clogs from Ugg, Sezane, and more, below.

Editor-Loved Shearling-Lined Wooden Clogs

Beek Woodpecker Shearling

Beek

In 2023, I nabbed a pair of Beek’s Woodpecker Shearling clogs, recently pulling them back out of my closet to wear on repeat for the second year in a row. The style, with a luxurious vegetable-tanned leather upper hand-nailed with bronze detailing and a shearling-lined insole, keeps my feet warm and fuzzy. I also love the just-high-enough 3-inch heel, making them the perfect pairing for a range of pant styles, including cropped, cuffed, and even super long flares. This year the sustainably minded brand really leaned into shearling, designing an entire collection of cozy sandals, slides, clogs and took cozy to new extremes, including a version of the Woodpecker with a fully fuzzy upper.

Free People Oak Cozy Clog Mules

Free People

Free People’s Oak Cozy Clog Mules are similar to my favorite Beek style with a shearling lining, suede upper, and stud details. However, they’re a slightly more casual alternative with a lower platform and heel. You also can’t go wrong with the price for under $200. They come in two color options, a vintage tan and a neutral cream suede that I’m personally crazy about—it’ll go with just about anything.

Ugg New Heights Cozy Clog

Zappos

Every holiday season there is a single Ugg style that becomes impossible to find, and this year my bets are on its new platform Cozy Clog. Styled after the OG clog but with an Ugg edge, the slip-on features a 2-inch stacked heel, cozy foam footbed, lightweight EVA outsole, and Uggplush wool lining. The styling limits are endless; pair them with tube socks and sweats, or go sockless with your favorite denim. This Ugg version is way more casual than the majority of options highlighted, but for the totally comfort-minded, they are a shoe-in. Sézane Taylor Clogs

Sezane

If an open back is the one clog design detail you can’t get over, the Sézane Taylor is the clog for you. The handcrafted shoe is utterly gorgeous, designed out of smooth leather with a hand cut wooden sole and a crafty, buckled ankle strap to keep your feet secured and prevent the shoe from falling off. Just be forewarned: the platform on these puppies is just under an inch plus a 3.3-inch heel, making them on the higher side.
