This Surprising Retailer Is Full of Skin and Hair Care Finds From $8

The memes about not being able to leave Target with just what you came for and the romanticization of Target runs? I have never known these as I grew up in Target-less cities. I still didn’t get it when they started popping up in New York City. My friends explained that it’s because they’re supposed to be these very large locations, full of every product you can think of, with an air that encourages endless meandering. (The opposite of anything and everything that exists in NYC.)

The online experience was not especially enthralling either—until recently that is. Target has been continually popping up when I’m looking for an everyday eyeshadow, affordable lip mask, and the like. So much so that one day I pursued its digital aisles for an hour resulting in a cart packed with a dozen products. In the interest of financial responsibility, I whittled that down to three products; Naturium’s Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Butter, Ogx’s Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Healing Dry Oil, and Clinique’s Moisture Surge Sheertint Hydrator Tinted Moisturizer.

Naturium Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Butter

Target

This is actually a repurchase. I finished a tub of this Naturium body butter about a year ago and have been in mourning since. It’s always sold out on the brand’s website so it was a double surprise to see it on Target and in stock.

It has the richness of a butter but the smoothness and glide of an oil. It spreads across my skin effortlessly and is absorbed within a matter of minutes. It doesn’t leave behind a residue of any sort but it does leave behind a slight sheen, a glisten on your gams. Naturium’s Glow Getter Body Butter feels like an indulgent treat three times as expensive as it actually is.

Ogx Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Healing Dry Oil

Target

I was a late convert to the world of hair oils, so I’m making up for lost time by trying everything I can. This Ogx oil is a no-brainer. First, it’s $8 which is the price of my post-tip ice latte. Second, argan oil is a GOATed hair care ingredient—it fosters a healthy scalp leading to glistening strands, protects from external damage, and heals breakage and split ends. Third, it has thousands of five-star ratings.

The review that sold me is from a shopper with “pretty dead” hair as a result of bleaching it more than half a dozen times. “Ever since I started using this [my hair] is smooth and shiny and not split up. My coworkers keep asking me if I just got my hair done.”

Clinique Moisture Surge Sheertint Hydrator Tinted Moisturizer

Target

I’ve been in my Clinique bag ever since trying its new Black Honey Mascara; the formula had a wow factor that surprised me, and now I’m inspired to try more of its products starting with this tinted moisturizer.

It’s a multi-tasking makeup/skin care product that I especially love during the summer—the fewer layers the better. It’s moisturizing (hyaluronic acid), soothes skin (aloe vera), and has SPF 25 sun protection. As for the tint? It’s subtle but has a transformative “flawless finish” that never fails to garner compliments, at least according to pleased reviewers.
